Do you have wrinkles in your carpet, sometimes known as waves?

When a carpet is brand new and newly installed it usually seems perfect.  The installer generally lays the carpet in and uses a kicker to tuck it up to the walls.  It's almost impossible to really stretch a brand new carpet because it's just too stiff. So for the first year or so, it doesn't exhibit any wrinkles and doesn't seem to be loose. But, over time, with normal wear and tear the backing on the carpet begins to "give" more.  The carpet begins to develop wrinkles, especially in the traffic lanes.

This causes the carpet to wear faster because tiny particles of dirt are like sand inside the carpet rubbing back and forth on the fibers of the carpet causing that fuzzy look.  Also, the carpet will not clean up properly because the loose fibers lean over and block the suction path of the dirt and your vacuum just can't pull it out.
